Ankle boots are one of our ultimate footwear essentials, especially with the cooler months fast approaching. They’re versatile enough to work well paired with a winter wardrobe, but also blends seamlessly with summer dresses and shorts. We find ourselves wearing these boots on a daily basis as they provide additional height to our legs whilst still remaining super comfortable throughout the day. Available in a range of styles and textures, they’re staples you wont get bored of. We’ve got a few quick tips for you to remember:

  • You can never put a foot wrong in darker coloured boots. Investing in a pair of black ankle boots will be worthwhile as they’ll match and complement majority of the garments in your wardrobe.
  • Those with a petite build, match your pants to the colour of your ankle boots to  create an illusion of longer legs.
  • If you decide to wear your ankle boots with skinny jeans, make sure your jeans are fitted and long enough to tuck inside your boots.
  • You can also pair your boots with fun dresses and bohemian skirts; just make sure the skirt length is either a cut above the knee or a full-length style.
  • Remember, boots that end at the ankle will truncate your legs. So if your ankles and calves are a concern, opt for a black boot with a slight heel to keep an elongated effect.

Go tribal with these vibrant, ethnic prints. The use of natural, raw tones infused with colourful details and dramatic angles will surely add that cool, contemporary vibe to your style. While a motif dress may be the easiest way to sport this trend, if you’re a little hesitant, try incorporating a tribal printed cardigan or beaded accessories to finish off your look. Do make sure you keep an eye out for garments with simple silhouettes, earthy tones and rich textures to make sure your tribal print really stands out.

Runway Report: Alice McCall S/S12/13

alice mccall mbfw 12

Hands down one of our favourite collections this season at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Alice McCall delivered a stunning collection on all fronts; drawing inspiration from Russian babooshka dolls and delicate hungarian traditional motifs. The end result being a youthful, modern folkish collection that did not disappoint. Romantic nude and pastel bases were decorated with beautiful floral motifs, along with neon beadwork and digital prints that has become highly acclaimed to Alice McCall. This whole collection has got us very excited for Spring/Summer 12/13. View whole collection here.
